On October 6 at 10AM, Officer Carlos Manzano was dispatched to the Quick Chek on a report of a shoplifting. He arrived and learned that an unknown male had taken a number of items while in the store, then entered a restricted area of the store to place the items in a bag. When confronted by employees, he ran from the store. Officer Manzano left the store in search of the individual that had been described and located him a few blocks away. He was placed under arrest without incident. The Newark male, 45, was charged and additionally found to have open Harrison warrants. He was transported to the Hudson County Jail, and the stolen goods recovered.
