After his defeat, British General Cornwallis withdrew his forces from Princeton and headed toward New Brunswick to protect his supply lines.
After their victory at Princeton, Washington decided against pursuing the British into New Brunswick. Instead he led the Continental Army toward Bedminster to rest and regroup.
