On December 26 at 9PM, Officer Pat Triano was conducting a directed patrol check on Harrison Avenue when he observed a vehicle commit a red light violation. He effected a motor vehicle stop and smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers Amaris Gracian and Michael Gregory arrived to assist as there were two male occupants in the vehicle. After a brief interview and a subsequent search of the vehicle and the occupants, suspected marijuana that had been packaged for distribution was recovered. Both the driver, 23 and the passenger, 22, both of Newark were arrested. The driver was also wanted on an ICE warrant while the passenger was on probation for a recent Essex County charge. Both individuals were charged accordingly, processed and transferred to the Hudson County Jail.
