During the first week of August, 2020, there were multiple reports of stolen bicycles at 1200 FER Blvd South. Altogether, five bicycles, total value of approximately $4000, were taken from the parking deck of Steelworks. All of the victims advised police that their bicycles were locked and secured and upon returning to them, the locks were cut and the bicycles were gone. The Harrison Police Department Detective Bureau conducted an extensive investigation and upon completion, were able to identify the vehicle used during the thefts and ultimately identified a suspect. An arrest warrant was issued for the suspect charging him with multiple counts of Burglary and Theft.
During the early morning hours of August 19, 2020, Detective’s Joe Sloan, Robert Crudele and Matt Murphy along with Officer Mike Gregory conducted surveillance and located and apprehended the suspect at his place of work. The 46 year old male admitted to entering the parking deck and taking the bicycles. He was processed and turned over to the Hudson County Jail.
