On 03/11/2023, at 01445 hours, an HPD officer observed a motor vehicle being operated with no headlights and other motor vehicle infractions in the area of 5th and Ann Street. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver. After speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had been drinking. After failing to successfully complete the field sobriety tests, the driver was placed under arrest for DWI. He was transported to headquarters where he was processed for driving while intoxicated. The drivers blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.12%. The driver was released after receiving numerous summonses to appear in court. The vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded.
On 03/12/2023, at 0056 hours, an officer observed a motor vehicle disregard a red light at the intersection of Washington Street and Harrison Avenue. A motor vehicle was performed and contact was made with the driver. After speaking with the driver it was determined that he had been drinking. The driver was asked to complete standard field sobriety tests which he could not satisfactorily complete. The driver was arrested for DWI and transported to headquarters where he was processed. The drivers blood alcohol content was over double the legal limit permissible to drive. A computer check was completed on the driver and it was shown that there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of a neighboring jurisdiction. The driver received a ROR from the issuing jurisdiction and also received numerous summonses which included, DWI , Reckless diving , open containers of alcohol in motor vehicle and being an unlicensed driver. The driver was released under John’s Law. The vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded.
On 03/12/2023, at 0453 hours, units were dispatched to the southern part of Frank E Rodgers Blvd. on a call of a male party asleep behind the wheel of a car. When the officers arrived at the intersection of Angelo Cifelli Drive and Frank Rodgers Blvd. they observed the vehicle in question. Contact was made with the driver, and as they spoke to him they determined that he had been drinking. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and perform standard field sobriety tests. The driver, who had difficulty exiting the car could not satisfactorily complete the tests he asked to complete. The driver was arrested for DWI and transported to headquarters without incident. At headquarters the drivers blood alcohol content was 0.23% BAC, which is nearly triple the legal limit permissible to drive. The driver was released under John’s Law after receiving summonses for DWI and Reckless driving. The vehicle being operated by the drive was impounded.
On 03/12/2023, at 1529 hours, HPD units were dispatched to the intersection of Harrison Avenue and North 2nd Street of a possible motor vehicle accident which may include a DWI driver. Upon the officers arrival they spoke with both parties involved in the accident. One of the drivers was out of his vehicle taking pictures of the accident. Officers spoke to this individual and it was determined that he rear ended the other vehicle and admitted to drinking. The driver was arrested for DWI and transported to headquarters. The driver was processed for DWI after he submitted samples of his breath for testing. The results were 0.16% BAC. The driver received multiple summonses which included DWI and reckless driving. He was released under John’s law. The vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded.
On 03/13/2023, at 0012 hours, an officer observed a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner through the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Passaic Avenue. A motor vehicle was conducted at the Speedway Gas Station and contact was made with the driver. The driver appeared to confused and disorientated. As officers attempted to assist the driver, officers determined that he had been drinking. The driver had difficulty exiting the vehicle and could not satisfactorily complete standard field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI. The driver was transported to headquarters where he was processed for DWI. The drives BAC was 0.18%, which is over double the legal limit permissible to drive. The driver was released under John’s Law and the vehicle being operated by the driver was impounded. The driver received multiple summonses which included DWI and Reckless Driving.
